Does the "Secret Admirer" thing work?

I'm sure that everyone knows what Secret Admirer Approach is and how it works. My only question about it is; Does it actually work in the end?

you'd probably have more success being direct but YMMV depending on the girl imho you're probably less likely to be successful the older you are because then it tends to start looking stalkery instead of sweet (like, if you're in your 20s and you're not sure if she'd be into this, don't do this)

may be a bit impractical but i think it can have a successful application tell your friend to ask your crush if they like you, but tell them to bring it up organically then you get an honest answer iv never tried it, but not sure how it could go wrong

It only works if she finds you attractive. I think the likely 2 possible outcomes is she doesn't find you attractive, thus it's creepy. Or she does find you attractive, is smitten, but still creepy.
