True, I am not surprised in a negative way, just very flabbergasted It's bizarre for me since most young people and friends here are nowhere close to having that level of relationship yet I am used to seeing people marrying at late 20s from where I am It's great seeing people being together though!

I would've gone that route and waited until after finishing school, but I'm currently working full time and only taking a couple classes at a time, so by the time I'd be able to get married, I'd be an old woman. Might as well seize the chance and secure my future as early as I can

With the marrying in their late 20s, that's what my fiance was saying about where he's from. Where he's from, it's very uncommon to get married so young, and it's even more rare to have a child so young. He's from Spain, so the economy is actually kinda shit and no one wants to bring a child into whatever fuckery is going on. Lucky for him, he still gets to follow in the tradition of not marrying until late 20s (he's almost 6 years older than me), and we plan to raise our family here in Japan

Interesting! I assumed your fiance was Japanese since you mentioned you live in Japan, how did this come about?

He's here on a scholarship to work on his degree in East Asian Studies. We met on a dating app a while ago, and we were immediately really good friends. Eventually it turned into something more, and we've just been riding it out, and then the topic of him having to go back to Spain came up, but he talked about how he didn't want to go back because the job market is shit and he wants to stay with me. Well, I get sponsorship through my work because I work for the federal government, and I can get him sponsorship through me if we get married, so that's basically what we're doing for now before we have the courage to tell our parents that we're "getting married" even after we sign the papers and stuff. It's kinda difficult to explain. He's my fiance between just me and him, but to our families we're still just boyfriend and girlfriend. And when we become husband and wife, we'll say that we're engaged. ^^;
