On the Germany reasoning Napalm would be arguing against recent to current issues tbh so it’s kinda odd to pull that in to me at least
Also on different nations he might argue against you Yestotally on the fact of cultural climate for the U.S and how the population size relative to the gun deaths ontop of it and what has been accounted for for each death as well as which cities skew the charts in total American gun deaths or that there are states with high gun control policies but with more gun deaths, something like that
I’d kinda be weary of that

just saying, i am in the debate club of my school, and international debaters come over to debate with us here.
the thing is that you shouldn't need any stats to debate, or any difficult language to debate whatsoever.
i don't feel like reading article after article just to prove that i'm right. i've done that before, and all it does is take a whole lot of time. my arguments are sound, in the end debates always come down to certain ideologies which means you don't need any stats to prove your points, because every ideology is an idea.

I mean just by that alone wouldn’t your debate team be exposed to only certain forms of debate or what kinda debates do you actually do? I haven’t really watched school debates in likea forever, never in person though so I might look some up
Like, for full nuanced arguments yes stats, correct sources, and evidence would need to support “Political” things for those that are higher up on those pedestals. Cause they have actual influence so they kinda should use facts (Technically I think a lot of them talk out their ass)
I would agree as long as your logic is sound fact checking can come later when people have time as we all aren’t on the news people or officials. Personally for myself it’s just easier to watch videos that just link me the articles and then to double check I watch anything contrary XD
But being in a debate club means you have been exposed to well structured debates as well as very heated topics, though difficult language for some people is usually meant to just be a bit more concise or to convery certain meanings that are meant for the said sepicific argument. Yeah sure you don’t need them but tbh once you know it kinda hard to beat out difficult wording for some.
Also ofc every ideology is an idea and not every idea is an ideology sk on and so forth so saying that point also kinda feels tacked on.
I may not be in a debate club but uh most of my debating comes from watching screaming fire fights, twitter wars, companies and people shitting eachother so I just kinda learn from watching and compiling
I think the main issue is because your core of just being sound brings an innate offense to Napalm when he has worked oh so hard on his facts and logic that even if they aren’t bad cites and presented correctly your not going to budge but neither will he because of his perception of your morale basis and that you perceive yourself as sound and logical

realized this fully and am already prepared for it, just don't feel like explaining everything at once because he might change his mind xD although i doubt that.
i also don't feel like explaining everything because to me it's just so redundant that i don't think it's important. i'm only explaining the things i find important about my reasoning.
i'll explain one more thing
"Our news here in America gleefully reports just about anything bad that happens with a gun and is silent when they are used responsibly."
that's because responsible gun use is good, obviously. if we would report everything in our world that is going well, we would be far, far too optimistic about how well it's all going. I mean, just saying, have you ever read news about the fact that our internet is getting better and better, communication is getting easier and easier, we can now access unlimited amounts of information on a device as small as my hand, that living conditions on average are being bettered day by day, the incredible amount of effort put into science and the progress we are making, we could have a news show that would last all day! you're not hearing about the police catching any bad guys either, while that's what they're for! maybe if some ultra druglord like El Chapo gets caught you'll hear about it in the news, but other than that it's a no-no.
Police is just doing their job, just like the guy from the train checks your ticket. it's not news-worthy to report every person who saves another person, because a person with a gun is someone who can take matters into their own hands. just like the police can. every day life will now not only consist of:
- waking up, eating breakfast
- going to work
- coming home from work, watch tv with wife
- going to bed
but instead will be:
- wake up, before you eat breakfast hear gunshots outside and think: "hey might as well save this guy"
- eat breakfast
- save another guy
- go to work
- coming home, not watching tv with wife because you don't have time for that because you spent all day trying to play police
- go to bed

since it's going to be a daily thing to save someone it's just not news-worthy, unless you do something ultra-heroic.
"I mean just by that alone wouldn’t your debate team be exposed to only certain forms of debate or what kinda debates do you actually do? I haven’t really watched school debates in likea forever, never in person though so I might look some up"
if you're saying that our debates are only being held in certain forms thus always resulting in the same thing, that's untrue.
we have people both from the left and from the right in our debate group.
"Also ofc every ideology is an idea and not every idea is an ideology sk on and so forth so saying that point also kinda feels tacked on."
i didn't say that every idea is an ideology (although you could definitely try that lol)
every woman is a human but not every human is a woman, that's kind of a weird argument to make.
"I think the main issue is because your core of just being sound brings an innate offense to Napalm when he has worked oh so hard on his facts and logic that even if they aren’t bad cites and presented correctly your not going to budge but neither will he because of his perception of your morale basis and that you perceive yourself as sound and logical"
personally, i think napalm thinks he needs all of this data just to convince a person that he's right (or at least some of it). but that's not how it works.
in europe, we are discussing completely different things, your "debate" is so "developed" that he feels it's necessary to touch on all of those topics that the stupid people from the left think are important.
that debate that's being held in the US is pretty close-minded and it's pretty weird to see, honestly. i can't hold a good debate about gun control laws without someone screeching and attacking me instantly, while they haven't taken a proper look at the real problem.
edit: again i'm sorry if i don't make sense

in the end, this comes down to opinion, like it always does, unless you don't disregard logic.
it's either you think that you don't need other people and want to be able to defend yourself against some criminal, or you put trust in your society that we've fought all of these wars for to make as good as possible, that they'll defend you against a criminal.

Since MO froze here’s a picture of what typed
Also tbh I know other sides have also shown that the cultural skew is generally left leaning/democratic and in majority of minority neighborhoods. That’s where conservatives generally argue about the cultural and population argument because of the massive minority issue in places like Chicago and Detroit or other neighborhoods that have high mortality rate and single parent homes. This is where the debate comes in of why America cannot physically undo the gun issue because places that are sketch have ppl obtain guns unlawfully as well as gang violence and reported shootings.
He might go this route? Idk if he will though so you could defend against thT

Tbh it comes down to local gov. And state gov. First on what we can do. If ppl participated in this a bit more and states empowered this with out being awfully polarizing then it wouldn’t be 2 higher ups of political sides duke it out whilst everyone argue but has no effect so those 2 ppl higher up who can do something do what ever they want with their mindless followers while others debate and argue but don’t lobby for things. Things could change and it would take an insane time but it at least be something cause clearly going for federal gov. Is a power trip.
Eh oh well that has its own flaws to
