New Roommate Q

hannahbanana
I'm a little confused as to what disability you're talking about, or if you're renting out a room VS looking to rent from someone else. Either way though, your disability is none of their business. The only way you'd ever have a conversation about it would be in order to prove that's how you actually get your money to pay rent. But the details of the disability itself wouldn't be discussed. That being said, might be a good idea to meetup with these possible roommates and just have lunch or something to see if you're a good match. Or like if your disability gave you some really weird habits or like night terrors or something it might be a good idea to at least warn then so they aren't alarmed when shit like that happens lol. I mean if y'all are going to be living together they're gonna find out anyway x) But it doesn't have to be like "and I take these medications and go to the doctor every thursday"...But say you had a deathly allergy to peanuts or fish... you'd want to let them know so you guys can have separate drawers or cupboards in the kitchen. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you're worried about anything you can always bring it up in a casual way and it doesn't have to be a big deal. Everyone has their own ticks and pet peeves and it makes things a lot easier to get all of that out of the way first so there aren't any misunderstandings later, you know?

All I got to say is just be honest with yourself and with your roommate because it's the best idea out of all of them because the only answered that I will ever give you is the one that I would give to myself which is just do your best and everything will go smoothly. and if it doesn't go smoothly then that person isn't qualified to be your roommate.

Be extra careful of telling people your disabilities, If an employer finds about it, it's going to be a negative for your resume. Tell these things only if necessary and only to people who you can really trust.
