I've heard people try to argue that it's not incest that's the problem but repeated incest across generations. Of course any scientific study can be manipulated to serve a certain viewpoint so really it's really all in how much you're willing to believe.

Ya, this is not really the topic to go into detail on it, but my upbringing was stereotypical hyper conservative and hyper Christian. Add to that one parent who spent half my childhood as an alcoholic, and another who spent the other half as an opioid addict who would threaten to call the police on me and try to break down my bedroom door over the position of my toothbrush. Then you get the wreak I am at 30, that is just now figuring out who I really am, as things and feelings I repressed for decades out of fear come to the surface.
