Feel like I'm missing some meme with this david shit.
Yes, they are created with the single purpose of Killing a dangerous force for self defense, Something very needed in our society, and life in general. Yet it's hilarious considering That Said, Cellphones and Cars, Kill more civilians than the object made specifically for the termination of threats. And blunt objects, And Drugs, And failed medical procedures, and that big mac you ate considering the likelihood of heart disease.
If Guns were bad at killing, than they would fail in their primary function for existing. So pointing out that killing is their primary function proves little.

Gun don't kill people. People killed people. If it wasn't a gun, then it would have been a different weapon. Their are many ways to kill someone. Also, I agree with ParadoxicalQ. If he shot his grandmother, then did suicide all because he was "asked" to CLEAN HIS ROOM. Then, he probably had major mental issues.

People can misuse tools but u dont let lethal weapons go around loose.. going by that logic it should be legal for every civillian to keep their own bombs or nuclear weapons too.. coz guns wont help in all scenarios either!
And the negatives you said can be overcomed using a tranquilizer gun, it has longer range and infact even sniper versions are available, speed of the bullet is great, and minimal chances to resist its effects.

i try and stay out of these things lately, so i tried to use david to say my points for me secretly >w>
im sorry david
the point is to say you will have to ban cars and cellphones is not a comparison to guns
cars are a utility primarily while guns are for offense and defense purposes soley
it is not a 1 to 1 comparison

Even a knife and a gun cant be compared, knife is a close combat weapon and mass murder is definitely not possible! Knife is infact much less effective than a taser, let alone a gun.

A knife can be seen as a lethal weapon. Just because something is a lethal weapon does not mean the government has the right to keep it from the populace. If you're truly worried about human lives, Ban cars. 1.3 Million die a year due to car accidents, Around the same amount of crimes, Guns stop per year ironically.
Tranq Guns don’t work the way you see in the movies. Animal handlers using them, store the tranquilizer capsules in a cooling chain. From the cooler at the office to one in the car or cart, then one on their belts, and finally the weapon, which can only be fired twice before the residual heat from the propellant charge overheats the chamber and renders the tranquilizing agent either ineffective or lethal.
Even in completely perfect cases, where the handler has time to check out the right agent (a barbiturate, usually), keep it cool, attach the dart part, measure the amount, load the dart, hit the animal, it can take up to 45 minutes(!!) for the animal to be too drowsy to fight back. Close to 20% of thusly tranqued animals die, nevertheless, and close to ten percent don’t react.
The most common tranq agent, Azaperone, is a dangerous drug. Drug users, drinkers, and people with lots of adrenaline coursing through their veins. don’t feel a thing on normal doses. Schizophrenics, on the other hand, go into a murderous rage. And it kills easily, if it’s not injected intra-muscular in a very specific way.
Haloperidol, on the other hand, gives you a racing pulse and raises your blood pressure. That’s why it’s usually given orally, and under supervision. No one defending themselves will have the time or equipment to check the person, making it nearly if not as likely to kill as a normal fire arm.
Finally, Xylazine drops your heart rate and blood pressure. Which is cool, because it usually means that the person falls down (brain says “uh, not enough pressure to get me blood, quick lie down”), but it also can kill quickly. And it doesn’t work on people on drugs or people under the influence of alcohol.
None of those things works quickly. When an anesthesiologist induces, she drops a cocktail of drugs, designed to work together, over an intravenous peripheral or central access point into your body. To maintain your state, she has to check constantly, make sure you’re metabolizing the drugs correctly, and ensure that adverse effects (such as you stopping to breathe, for example) are countered. You’re usually intubated or have a Güdel Tube in your mouth, to prevent suffocation, etc.
So, in short, tranquing a human means you’ll be about as likely to kill them, with less chances of them actually being stopped, and a chance they’ll get wilder. It means a very rigid handling protocol, that does not allow for quick response, and it has a super high chance or being the wrong drug for the wrong person.
That's why, Fire arms should be kept instead of replacing them with Tranqs.

ok but again
cars are a mandatory utility to modern life unless you live in a very condensed location or are near public transport, which the vast majority of people are not, while guns prove only useful is very rare instances, that most people will not experience
so again
it is not a 1 to 1 comparison

Self defense is a pretty important Utility. And guns are the best at the job. A good offense is the best defense Lamby. The fact remains, if you were solely thinking of saving lives, You'd want to ban far more things before guns. All mass shootings a year combined, still don't let them even reach the half way point of the other things I mentioned.
So obviously they're not as lethal to the general populace as people would like to say. They don't kill as many people as said things per year. Yet they are the best at killing, yes. because that is what they are made for.
