Democrats have a (Terrible) tax proposal

densetsu_no_baka
Right now, I'm not happy about it because they waste it on a lot of bullshit. One idea I've had is letting you pick on your W4 what you want your tax dollars used for.

Also, letting people opt out of social security and medicaid, on the condition that if they do, they don't get access to it.

Social Security turned into a clusterfuck when politicians started pulling money out of it to finance other programs.

Yeah... Sadly, our politicians are just not trustworthy. On either side of the aisle. Something that pisses me off about both sides recently is that they've both developed a kind of tunnel vision that only allows them to see their core base. Moderates and independents at this point are being completely snubbed, and they're really the ones that decide elections. I'm actually really surprised from a logistic standpoint that neither side seems to care about getting the moderate votes anymore. But that's not really on topic for this thread, so I digress. Personally, I'm in favor of SS and medicaid if our politicians would stop being so slimy. And personally, I'd want my tax dollars to go towards the DoE, EPA, veterans' benefits and abortion funding. Nuclear power is the future, and we should be investing in fusion power research and other sources of clean energy. Whoever can perfect clean energy first and start selling it at a price to compete with fossil fuels will change the world and get rich as hell in the process. And if its us, that means countries will be funneling money into America for their energy needs instead of countries like Saudi Arabia.

How about usin our god given right to firearms and putting the government back in its place, and payin debt in bullets. Mearly a suggestion for an alternative timeline scenario that could potentially be beneficiary.

...yeah, you have fun fighting the US military.
gudmoore
I'm not advocating for anything, just saying... remember how badly our military fared against Vietnam's guerrilla warfare. Plus American Military will not be bombing their own infrastructure.

Somehow I doubt that... If an actual armed rebellion rose up and an actual civil war started, I don't think there's much our politicians wouldn't do to save their own asses. Also, something that a lot of people fail to take into account; modern surveillance technology. Thanks to companies like Google, Facebook and Amazon, the government can track everything you do at all times. Any kind of a rebellion would likely be snuffed out before it even started. Though, this is very off-topic, so this conversation isn't a rabbit hole I'm going to go further into here.

In the current radically divided state we're in as Americans, you may be right. But yeah, this is quite a bit off topic so we can just leave this part here and continue about taxation.

The thing I really hate about taxation, in general, is how it's made to tax individuals more than a large company. A company yes still pays a lot in terms of keeping people of interest funded and happy but it's not going into the system as it should. We also have less self-employed people in the USA than ever. You may be fooled by some stats that float about like a corn filled turd trying to pass it's self off as edible crunch bar. This is a stat that counts contracting as being self-employed. So yes it's true but it's not really the kind of employment that one thinks of when you say "self-employed." So why is contracting work bad? Well, it's missing benefits and responsibility by the larger companies that hire these poor people. A company does not need to provide medical, 401k, dental, and etc. All of those things save them a lot of money and is put into maintaining fat wallets. The market is also unfriendly to small/local businesses. Outsourcing an overseas abuse has taken its toll on the market. It's a crutch that in the short term makes things cheap but long-term fries the home market.
