What's your favorite RPG?

Saw someone asked a similar question about MMO's, and it got me curious. What are the favorite NON-MMO RPGs of the people around here. For me, it's kind of up in the air to pick my favorite, but the top contenders would be Breath of Fire 3 and Tales of Symphonia, though one could argue the latter is more of an action-adventure game, I think it still qualifies as an RPG, cause you have certain characters who can fill certain roles better than others.

Western tactical turnbased: Its between Betrayal at Krondor, and Dark Sun: Shattered Lands. Western action RPG: Pick any elder scrolls game. Though I'm somewhat more partial to Daggerfall. J-Action RPG: Tales of Vesperia J-Turnbased: Easy. Chrono Trigger... Well, I suppose ATB could count as turnbased.

Let's see...I love Final Fantasy X and VI. But I'm also gonna throw the little known and underappreciated Illusion of Gaia out there.

Lot of great games listed so far. I enjoyed the Tales of series a ton, same with Chrono Trigger. My favorite is probably Final Fantasy 9 though. I loved the classic fantasy throwback rather than the high-tech futures.

For Western RPGs: the Elder Scrolls series, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, For JRPGs: Dragon Quest (the entire series basically), Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Tales, Chrono Trigger, Fate/Extra CCC

I felt in love with Dark souls. I really love the story told by the characters point of view, so we never actually know the complete history or who is lying or telling the truth.
