Giving away your freedom to the greater good. So basicly giving the chance to only one idea. And only in the better case. Empower someone then waiting for him to act for the greater good, it's pretty idyllic, but i personnaly don't trust that vision

It won't work either, because humans are selfish creatures. They will always exploit the system. Humans and idealism don't mix.

@dagger yeah you can have a strong government separate from the market. I'm also a strong advocate of laissez faire. That doesnt make things like being authoritarian inherently wrong. Only extreme cases of an authoritarian government is bad, but everything in extreme is bad. It's sort of like saying. "Hitler was the Chancellor so any system of government with that title is inherently wrong", which just isnt good logic.
