About the "Don't add any male who exclusively adds females" advice, I believe if they make it clear in their bio that they are "looking to date" or something along those lines and they don't come off as a creep they should be given a chance. Sorry for the little tangent and welcome to the site!

I've heard people talking about not adding males to your friends list just because they have no male friends there. -I can't give you much advice, but I will say that some people dislike talking to guys, even if they are one themselves. Like me, I talk to girls most of the time. Talking to males isn't something I like doing, and it can hurt more than you may know. However I will say that, you should take caution when talking with others.
