Anime characters are based on Asians = Only Asians who can Cosplay Anime characters

Every time I see this I'm not sure if this is just a joke or really a serious thing :v Welcome to this racist world :v even something as simple as cosplay is affected

I wouldn't go as far to say "anime characters are actually mostly based on Caucasians anyway" (just as egotistical for someone on the other side argument to say. :u) except for the ones who are literally supposed to be foreigners or fantasy/isekai characters...a lot of artists have said that they didn't base their characters off of any "race" in particular and still consider them to be "Japanese" even the ambiguously brown types. :u but yeah, IT IS absurd to push some type of sentiment like that. There's western cosplayers who look perfectly fine when cosplaying anime characters.

Another thing I forgot to add: Honestly what I believe (and this is just my opinion) makes or breaks a cosplay is if the character the person is cosplaying is instantly recognizable by fans of the series/character or not. I wouldn't say they HAVE to be whatever the perceived "race" of the character is. As long as they put in effort on the quality of their costume I see no problem with anyone cosplaying any character. Also @Muffin I didn't really see OP's whole thing as 'racist' either honestly. Mildly Offensive and unreasonable? Sure, but racist? How is this any more 'racist' than "taking pride in or defending one's race?" like certain people of caucasian origin in the US like to speak about when it comes to both perceived and real attacks on the "white race"? Just like those people who I personally don't agree with but respect their right to voice their concerns anyway, I think people like OP have every right to voice their views as well. I don't really understand what's wrong with that...but then again I'm a black dude who never bothered cosplaying in his life so I may be biased. :U Either way, OP getting banned is probably going to do nothing but give him nothing but more ammunition to use in his crusade against filthy gaijin cosplayers in other places.
