Just like what Keima stated, I know some guys who liked to be chased around and other guys who stays away whenever a girl takes initiative. But forget those who likes to be chased, I'm more curious about the latter. Is it because of their defense mechanism? or maybe they don't like the girl at all? or maybe they thought its a trap like click bait? What are your thoughts into this?

First off, I loved that anime. Secondly, I don’t think all guys would shy away if a girl initiated first.
I think if you like someone you shouldn’t let them get away. You’ll probably live with more regret not finding out what could have been if you don’t say anything. Maybe they’re too shy to say something, they’re scared of getting rejected or even think that the person they like isn’t looking for a relationship at the moment so they stay silent and don’t make the first move.
I think it’s great if a girl makes the first move and I’m sure I’m not the only guy who thinks so.

Simple really. Men think its a trap. Why? Because its like someone coming to you and offering 1 million $ for nothing. You would think "whats the catch?". I had this many times. When a girl starts hitting on me, my first thought is: "what she is trying to get out of it?". Because why would you do that, when its so easy for you to get a man? Why would you make so much effort when you probably have men standing in line to get you.
So yea, you can call it defensive reaction. Just because its so unusual.
We can even go deeper in to it. Female who knows what she is doing can control majority of men. If female is making a move, she could look dominant, and male could be afraid that he would be controlled, manipulated, abused. I guess, whom is making a move is the one with control. Men are used to control instead of being controlled.
My midnight ramblings. xd

i’m with the first couple comments. i think if you’re into someone then go ahead and let them know. i mean don’t be creepy about it and stalk them, but i think if you come across as honest and not super pushy then that’s the way to go (regardless of gender).
at worst the one being “chased” can take the gesture as a compliment and decline. on the other hand they may decide they want to give it a go with you and see how things pan out.
also on the note that some people may decide not to consider a date simply based on who initiated, i think that they are making broad assumptions based on stereotypes that may or may not match the situation. this is rather immature in my opinion and probably isn’t the thought process for most people. initiative (not to be confused with forcefulness) is a good quality to have.

Nah. How my relationships start with females is actually by them coming up to me first. I don't really try to take the initiative since I don't care about people who are not personally involved in my life. I hardly chase a female since most don't try to interact with me so I don't bother and do my own things. I can see it as a 'trap' since the very few who came to me only just wanted something which results to me telling them to fuck off. There's always some whitenight cuck saying I'm not being a gentleman. Lol.

It's a trap because girls who chase guys usually have some serious issues, be it mentally or physically. If it's physical issues, then guys might be less likely to chase them, leading to them being forced to chase guys.
For instance in my case, I get chased after a lot by white trash. I was barely on this site for a week before a fat brainless redneck was going full stalker mode on me. Though to be fair, I have come across decent women here who came to me first because I sounded interesting or whatever, they just tend to quickly loose that interest is all. Guess I didn't live up to their expectations or something.
Anyways, There's nothing wrong with the concept itself of a women going after a man, and I sure don't mind it. It's just usually a red flag when they do is all. At least in western culture anyway.
That said, this is how a friend of mine met the love of his life. She went after him and did so hard. She won him over and they got married.
