My opinion of the military has changed drastically. I used to think it was all about bravery, comradery, and commitment. Now i feel its more about whoever is the biggest kiss up. I have been in for almost 2. And a half years now, stationed at this base for 2 years. NEVER once have i been recognized for anything. Literally ANYTHING. I stay beyond the hours im required, i implement new systems, revise existing programs, give 200% to make sure people get what they need as soon as possible. I show up to work on time, i follow the rules, i have saved lives, i have made lives easier. What do i get? A slap in the face, i go up for an "award" of some sorts. And i lose, to someone who leaves work exactly 20 minutes early everyday, basically stands around at her job while her civilian counterpart does all the work and they have the nerve to tell me she deserves it more? Wow dude literally wow. I have dedicated HOURS of my free time to volunteering, at LEAST 20 hours this past year and ontop of that lead groups, sat with generals, briefed colonels....i get nothing...not a single thing, i didnt join for the recognition but what motivates me to do what i do now if it doesnt matter to anyone? Just because i didnt save the government billions of dollars or stupid stuff like that. I saved lives, i made things better, i made a difference in the wya things are. But im assuming in whoever's eyes im basically dog shit who doesnt deserve to be awarded an early promotion over someone who saw at most 10 people a day. I see 25 minimum but ok
