Are you more averse to guilt or shame?

burninghalo
By that I mean are you more concerned with pride or principle? Not here to judge but please be honest.

I'd like to say I'm more concerned with principle and online that shows thru more easily. However, offline it often feels like a much bigger issue trying to save face, but then I suppose that just depends in what context or what it's about.

Principle

Be fun if there was a way to test this that could be done quickly and efficiently without hurting someone. It's like the liar and truth teller riddle. Someone on principle would say that they were on principle. But someone on pride would also say principle because they want to look good.

I'd have to say pride. Holding on to that has opened doors..but it's also burned bridges. I fought a good friend a while back because he said some slick shit, before I knew it we were scrapping. He was trying to impress some women he picked up that night and I wasn't having it. That was 5 years ago and I haven't spoken to him since. I'm sure I could hit him up and smooth things out..but my pride gets in the way of that. I still don't feel like I was wrong, but maybe I was wrong to everyone in that room..idk. I do feel some guilt because I could've handled things better. I've had other situations as well and my pride is normally at the root of it. I know that's something I need to work on, but it's hard.

I always feels guilty when something bad happens, especially if it was my fault. I do let my pride get in the way sometimes and overlook it, reminding myself it was bound to happen or they deserved it, or believe I did right. All in an attempt to help protect myself, cause god knows how many times I've been hurt for standing by my principles and my kindness. I do stand by my principles sometimes and then break them, because of pride and afraid of getting hurt. Which I really need to work on. But I think it is okay to be prideful, just not over the top to the point where you think you are a god and do everything right. I think i'm mixing a bit of confidence in there too, but they do go hand in hand.

I kinda live by my principles, regardless of pride I'm gonna stick with them

Why not Both?

Halo, Well, you asked about a complex issue in a simple manner. I mean, you just asked for a one word answer instead of detail on the "why" and sometimes that detail can either show truth or set off the bullshit detectors. Mostly, people wear a mask online and as such, they won't be as honest as if you knew them or just saw them offline. That's why an in depth version would be better, at least there you can use an ounce of common sense and try to sort things out, instead of just getting a one word answer.
