Adoption is an option

I've seen children at orphanages and I've always wanted to try and brighten up their day as best as I cold, but being the (at the time)17 year old kid, all I could do is play games, and try to make them laugh. I think I want to adopt when I have a stable foundation for the child(ren) to live on

@reactionaryweeb, Well, for starters I was adopted as well and I feel that there are a bunch of kids who need a loving home and if I can provide that I would. also, I feel that there are a ton of kids being born already and why should I have kids when I could adopt a child who needs a home. Maybe this is just from my own experience, but every child deserves a good loving home.

That's untrue though. There aren't so many kids that need a good home. The PARENTS have to wait in lines for children to become available to adopt. And we aren't having a ton of kids born, our birthrate is down below replacement level.

right~ Because you know without a shadow of a doubt that is "untrue". All I'm saying is from my own experience is that adoption is a good thing, but I know everyone is different and has their own opinion on things. So, how can you say that if you could have kids don't adopt??? That should be that own individuals choice, maybe that person for what ever reason doesn't want to have their own kids and wants to adopt. ( me) that can happen you know....

Adoption is great, there are tons of kids in foster care, or kids that are just put up for adoption regularly. Not only is a great way for same sex couples to raise a kid but also for others that might be sterile or have some sort of fertility problem. My neighbor growing up adopted because he was sterile, a tough pill to swallow but if you really want to be a parent adoption is a good route to go. Just make sure you are prepared to handle all the added things that will come with it, like the child eventually catching on and you having to come clean at some point.

And in this case the needs of the society outweighs the want of the individual. Adopting when you can have children is a selfish action, from the perspective that you are now effectively forcing a lot of people that dont have an option into adopting a child from a different country, and that you are depriving your people of the children it needs.

How is that a selfish act??? Honestly, this is quite simple, you either want to adopt or not...your view is valid to your own perspective so I can't change your opinion, but that could be reversed as well, my views won't change on this topic. Thanks for you imput though, I'm sure "you" think it is the "right" opinion, but everyone has their own view on things.
