I'm not stressing about getting married but if my partner wants to do it then I'll do it. Personally I see marriage as more of a statement to the world that people are together rather than a confirmation of love. If people love each other then why make this huge ceremony? The only time I would refuse marriage is if we would go into debt by doing it. Nothing like adding extra stress to kick off your marriage.

I guess. My problem with marriage in the western world is how the government has the final say on how valid a marriage is or declare what a marriage is by definition. Otherwise, get married or not; have multiple partners or not—it is all up to the individuals involved.

It depends. It is just a contract.Marriage is becoming less and less important in modern times. Sure in many traditional societies, it is an official document proving the two can engage in reproduction legitimately.

Pope,
Just to add my two cents.
If you want a ten, you need to be their ten as well. In other words, you can't just look for who clicks for you, you've both got to fit with each other. Finding a life partner is about finding your strength and being the strength of another. Equality/balance and what not. You may say "I don't love now.", but I'd hope you did at one point in order to even have consider a life long journey. My point in saying that last sentence is this, a true love takes work to build and forge over a lifetime and isn't just a momentary fit of passion. There's a reason people often compare their partner to a missing piece, they aren't just a shiny thing that will dull in due time, but instead they are another gear that fits with you to build a greater machine for life and you for them. I'm sure I'm just preaching to the choir, but it never hurts to get varying perspectives.
Just another little bit of advice, take it with lots of salt...
There is not some one for everyone, some die being alone and happy. Others, die being lonely , but miserably attached to another. Some never even find what they're looking for. But, finding that you love yourself, that will make life so much better. IF you find someone, they shouldn't complete your life, but instead add a vibrance/vitality to it. They should be a piece of, but not the whole of the picture.
Best of luck and hopefully you will find that true and lasting love.
