It all depends on how you see it. I personally use forums more because I am terrible at creating topics when I talk to someone on their wall or private message. To me it just feels weird to talk to someone on their wall or send a friend request for no discernible reason or previous point of contact. Also I've noticed that most people who send friend requests don't really talk back. I end up accepting them and thank them for the invitation but they don't respond afterwards. Forums to me seems more organic and easier to express a person's views on things. I really don't think it is pointless because if dating does not work out then at least there are good conversations with people with similar interests.

Meh, i noticed being a nice guy doesnt really help , and people dont talk to me . So i end up being awkward on purpose and i get better and fun conversation. ... just experiment with different approches, leave your cinfort zone, just dont be rude.. everyone is different

hahaha i think so hahaha , i mean im the type of guy who likes to avoid the formalities like "hello, how are you doing?" and i notice those conversatiosn dont last too long, like ill find nothing to talk about after a few texts, so i go all awkward being really random and buggin people and it seems to get a better much more engaging response... hahaha if girls do that to, then i see why hahaha

Agree. The formalities like "hello, how are you doing" are almost unnecessary if you want to start a conversation with a stranger for the first time especially when that person is very reserved...Somewhat embarrassing tbh...
Yeah, in many cases those conversations won't last long unless one person is talkative...In my opinion, asking questions directly is a better way to keep conversations going... I always feel obligated to hold the conversation, but I have no idea what I should ask if the info is blank or mediocre, though I was regarded to be an introverted conversationalist by some people...In my opinion, conversations won't die as long as both don't give up Curiosity plus pursuit of knowledge and truth, lol this rule just applys to me and people in my circle.

^ On that I'd like to add a few things. There are days when almost no one is here and the few times it's bustling. Plus some people here are literally trying to juggle dozens of messages. Literally dozens. Heck I know a few users who don't even bother with DMs because they have soooo many messages from randos who don't spend a day in the forums. Guys here's a tip, please stop just going up with a "hi, how are you" and then having nothing to follow. Expecting the other person to carry the conversation is dumb. Also avoiding conversational dead ends is generally a good idea.
