Do your friends respect Anime?

Back when I was young, my first animes were on Nick Jr. and Americans were more silent to anime and still called them cartoons without realizing their origins, until the term "anime" was discovered and aired on commercials in the mid-90s. In recent years, one website that hates anime is YTMND, except for game-based ones and games with anime-style. For my friends and family in reality, most I encountered are ignorant and not interested, but prefer sci-fi, Dr. Who, and American comics. Some who like anime prefer the most prominent and highly-rated ones like DBZ, One Piece and Naruto. History and facts are getting unnecessary changes.

Well, I got one of my best friends into a few series, but not anime in general. But she clearly accepts it and has nothing against it.

I have never had a friend who openly admitted they liked anime, and so i've never bothered to mention that it was some thing I was in to. Have always wondered if that's how it is for a lot of yall or not?

Hmmm I think you should consider if those people are real friends... I have some friends that are not into anime and they couldn't care less about it, they don't call me names or anything. Back in school had that issue so I walked away from those people who couldn't respect my hobbies and just stayed with the ones who were fine with it without hurtful jokes or names

it really depends on the crowd your with like for example, in my anime clan the lower your knowledge regarding anime the more they look you in the eyes with cringe like saying that your just a poser mainstream anime watcher and you smell normie ass. but for my co-workers, and old friends and college friends it's a mixed up reaction. some are clueless as hell and some are average no one will look down you here since in Philippines anime is pretty well known like in my HS days everyone known fucking deathnote that I didn't watch it because my classmates just do a campfire story with each other to talk about it and arguing what is the real story of deathnote and how deep it is (if they watched lain not sure if dethnote is that deep) haha goodtimes. you'll just be look down if you are a real loser with no intention of bettering himself/herself.

@nyooom having real friends is hard but having friends is easy just do what the popular kids do keep yourself on a low profile to avoid clashes with bullies and elites. did it like just 1 year of my high school days when I was in 1st yr and all was good. but after that year I tried looking for real friends so far I got lucky and got real friends.too bad my best friends are all already married and busy with being a parent so I only meet them on some occasions now.
