Why Did You Join MaiOtaku?

Long story short? I tried a variety of dating sites to try and get over my most recent ex and not having many opportunities to meet new people outside of Anime North (though my anxiety sort of prevents THAT from happening since starting conversations is next to impossible for me, but I've been working on it; years ago I would never be posting replies to threads like I am now so that's a good start) but after years of barely having any human contact except on the rare occasion (con, meet-up, rare occurrence where an old friend invites me on an outing, etc.) I've been seeking out ways to communicate with people and that just kind of lead me here. Funnily enough I actually was introduced to this site via an internet article I stumbled upon one day.

I joined to make more friends who are into anime, the few friends I do have are all into anime and cosplay and luckily my fiancé is into anime as well

In college studying engineering/electronics and only guys all the time with nobody who likes anime or anything close to it though they are good friends/classmates I'd like to have some friends to talk about anime with and to have a chance of getting a girlfriend.. >//<

I use MaiOtaku because I feel somewhat depressed and disappointed about very few to zero good otaku or just people into various Japanese media to interact with comfortably in the Tri-State area. All it is mostly full of are country and bluegrass fans, people wearing tattoos and piercings, farmers, antique item restoration people, Christians having little to no interest in other things than Christianity discussions, younger people obsessed with Minecraft, Paw Patrol, MLP: FiM, Disney's Cars and Frozen films, Despicible Me/Minions, and Fortnite, etc., etc. I feel lonesome from my type of people. T_T

Same here only I find a few people but they're way to weird for me or they want to constantly insert social justice were it isn't needed. Honestly I end up being a weirdo no matter were I go.

To meet like minded people, and also people that may challenge my mind, also was hoping to find a lady whom can reciprocate/appreciate my particular idiosyncrasies for the long haul, last one has not happened but that is OK as I have no attachments to desired outcomes :) May we all be free from suffering and filled with boundless joy
