Is online dating REALLY better than in reality?

latemery
You honestly get to know me a lot better online, its easier to be open without having that shyness. Eventually you do plan to move from the online to the real deal though.

Online dating works in the short run but you'll want to turn it into in-person reality at some point.

It's easier but not better. In both spheres you could meet the love of your life or just people out for the booty. Or insane maniacs.

I would say that online dating is a easier way to find someone with similar interest, while in real life you discover the information slowly overtime with little knowledge if you are even alittle compatible. I also think it becomes a lot harder to find someone after you finish school.

Well, online dating does make finding someone easier. It also lets you get to know the person just by looking through their profile and pictures. However, online dating also has a few cons. For example, it is very easy for people to lie about how they look, about their job, etc. When you meet someone irl, they can't really get away with lying about their looks since they're right there in front of you.

I had two LDRs years ago and they tapered out. Real Life dating is better imo

Because of the reach of the world wide web it is easier to find someone you could get along with in a platform designed to socialize. And because some people are really shy, they might find it easier to communicate through that initial barrier. So it does make it easier in some ways. But the lack of physical contact makes it very impersonal. You both have to be trying and it can be really easy to slip into the "its just a person online" mentality. To build a stable genuine relationship requires a connection. So you have to keep in mind that on the other side of that screen is a living breating human with wants and needs, dreams and hopes, struggles and problems of their own. You have to be willing to care about them. That can be hard to do when the acessibility of the internet means that you have thousands of options at all hours of the day. You start to look at people as just another name on the screen. Another issue is the natural insecurity of such a relationship. Ever hear about army wives cheating on their husbands? People worry that they'll trade mr. or mrs. Right for Mr. or Ms. Right here. Eventually you'd want to meet up and establish a way to stay in touch. I'd say that they can work but it requires both people be willing to put in the effort in each other to show that they care. And make no mistake it takes more effort.
