In lieu of a completely moderate and unbiased news medium (if that is even possible nowadays or ever was possible) what I would suggest doing is viewing the same news story / event / debate / issue from multiple sources from both liberal and conservative news mediums (similar to what Neko guy said).
For example look at gun / 2nd Amendment issue material from both the Huffington Post and The Blaze (and similar places of news) and then draw your own conclusions and stances. I've personally spent hours upon hours scouring both liberal and conservative sources on this issue and have drawn my conclusions from there.
Divisiveness has proven itself to be quite the revenue generator for the media so I don't see it stopping anytime soon (peacefully anyway). Divisiveness also seems to be what drives the left nowadays despite their cries of "tolerance" and "inclusion".

There's a youtuber I like to watch as background noise he's called sargon of akkad he's normally good is he perfect no is do I follow him not really but I like the logic in the news. He even admits to being swayed to one side more then the other but tries hard to play the side game but rather the skeptic of all corners and uses logic with facts. I do check up on all his sources and I've called out any mistakes and he does fix them. No even I as a 4 year old new cnn and fox where lying trash bags. I take the slogan "Trust no one. Question everything" seriously and do just that when facing any news or data. If more people did this I'm sure that the world would run better. Look at the money, look at who there tied to, look at the people that work there and what they say on and off air, who do they have under contract, and so on.

The multi media search could work but like I said before look at whos behind them i'm looking at fox and cnn as the man behind both parties owns a large amount of each companies. Cnn is in the back pocket of Time Warner right now and well let's face it the branch of news is less about news but rather click bait and shock value watch time for the run time adds. We will be right back after these messages... What message is it well it's food for your cat or a sad family in africa or maybe coke? These third parties hold no true contracts and share and pay for time and space. They want a political view or maybe a type of market for them then they twist the news to tell half lies. They get you to vote for what ever there money payed for. You hold the most power with your money and eyes but we all fall into one spot a consumer and consume we do. We eat what ever slop in put in front of us.

I think what makes it more complex is that News Outlets don't lie all of the time. That way they gain your trust. Its more important to realize what political biases news outlets tend to have.
I agree all media has biases. But lately it seems as if people have been using the term, "the media" , to refer to news publications, studies, and academics that publish news that contradict their beliefs.
I facepalm everytime I see someone complain about right-leaning news publications like Breitbart, Fox News, and the Daily Caller then they go ahead and believe everything they see on Buzzfeed, Vice, and CNN.
I facepalm everytime I see someone complain about lefti-leaning news publications like Buzzfeed, Vice, and CNN then they go and believe everything they see on Breitbart, Fox News, and Daily Caller.
In addition I don't know how anyone over the age of 12 can take articles and videos with titles like "Trump is secretly racist, 15 reasons why click here!" (the article proceeds to be about how Trump doesn't like Chinese food or some shit) or "Libtard gets btfo in DEBATE by Milo, hilarious!" (The video proceeds to be Milo using a edgy one-liner on some 17 yr old activist from tumblr) seriously. Both are clickbait in both cases.
Also can we need to stop the "everything I see on youtube and facebook is unbiased" meme. Individuals have biases too. This was two years ago and even then I realized this was a signal for things to come but on a larger and more political scale.

On the subject of safe spaces. People are constantly making their own safe spaces online: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filter_bubble
Also People's Daily is owned by Chinese leadership, RT.com is owned by the Russian leadership, Al Jazeera is funded by the ruling family of Qatar, etc. Foreign news is biased too.
Also countries have their own armies of internet commentators that try to influence people: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State-sponsored_Internet_propaganda

Its hard to read most anti-trump articles without facepalming since half the time its just an emotional tangent and not actually covering what he's doing.

I don't trust any news source in particular. I trust whoever can write a story without clear bias all the time. I will never go to most of the media listed above. I mostly follow Fox News, but even then I am skeptical on what they say when the bias is showing. I trust the person more than I will trust the network. I don't watch or read for 'opinion' news, I watch/read so I know what happened, not through a bias filter. Fox News, for all its bad, at least has the integrity to show stuff live and 'most' clips are not clearly bias.
It pisses me off when I see people sharing articles from these sites right after making posts about alternative facts or fake news. That is what has everyone divided; everyone is just staying in their own corner going 'lalalala I cant hear you'. This is exactly why Trump has a 91% approval among R's and a 5% among D's. The split is real yo; and the irony is fake news making fake articles calling someone else's opinion an alternative fact.
