I mean the obvious choices (angel beats, clannad after story) but one that made me cry the most painful tears was probably NANA. The story in itself may not be the most relatable (rock stars) but the feelings are so amazingly well depicted in a nuanced and realistic way... it feels completely real. And the stories are as heart-wrenching as real emotional pains/heartbreaks.
