RACISM

napalmamaterasu
"I don't know what they said but I've been threatened" "Their views which I have not bothered to read are wrong and they are bigoted things" (and implicitly dehumanized) This makes sense - or maybe he read what we said and simply doesn't understand. The more of this that happens the quicker white guilt subsides .... the quicker the race card expires The problem with ignorance is sometimes the ignorant ones don't know they're ignorant (and if that applies to me please correct me)

I would just watch the video Napalm so everything can just be over with I guess Idk

A suggestion, if I may. Both sides (Including thing one and two) started this in the wrong light. If you really want a real discussion, why not start now? People don't have to agree, in order to get along. However, for the sake of discussion, people do need to be adults and not get so emotional. If kichi's initial request was to watch a video and then respond to the questions, do so. This was his thread, albeit a public thread, he started the topic and is in a sense, the rule barer. Not that things need to be changed on the fly, but the initial rules should be followed out of respect. It's really not so difficult. Everyone here claims this or that intelligence, but I as a layman have yet to of actually seen any real intelligence applied. No need for insults or aggression. Until things (heh) change, this will be my last post in this thread.

While I haven't watched the video I have (think or feel I have) actually contributed worthwhile discussion as well even with my less than savory points going on. I'm thinking about it but I'm not certain it would solve the problem at this point. I'm not purporting that I've been a saint or that I am the righteous example to follow. I did try last night to steer the thread toward the topic (maybe not my best attempts but an attempt nonetheless) and for a time it was. (the topic of racism - not the posted video in particular)

As to reiterate to the original topic: What should happen to people deemed racist? I posted this in another thread but I'll re-post (with some editing and such so it'll flow better) it here since I feel it valid and addressing the same issue. To start since punishment tends to deal with our legal system I shall shed light on burdens of proof in the American legal system. Civil Court burden of proof - preponderance of the evidence (more likely than not; the scales tipping even slightly) Criminal Court burden of proof - proof beyond a reasonable doubt (extremely likely and/or essentially a certainty) In order to substantiate a claim in either court here is a framework (not meant to be posed as a finalized or complete) of what one would have to prove in order to bring a Racism claim in Court 1. Prove that the person(s) or organization in question has a prejudice AND based off of that prejudice is engaging in discriminatory or harmful behavior. 2. This behavior or action(s) are based SOLELY on race and NO other factor 3. Prove that as a result of the behavior or action(s) harm (or damage) of some sort has happened (this means something beyond simple hurt feelings) Note: proving something based solely on race is a difficult task since with human interaction other factors come into play and singling out based on race is going to require clear and concise evidence and even then there could be reasonable doubts. I think there should be something that happens to a person who engages in an false accusation or a trivial accusation. I agree something should be noted to an actual proven racist but that also means that false accusers should have demerits against them as well and there should be a record of that. If we were able to press charges on someone for racism then we would need something in place to punish false accusations otherwise our courts would be flooded with these cases en mass. Also if it is found out the person(s) in question simply have a prejudice they should not be punished in the legal system as simple prejudice in my opinion isn't enough to substantiate justification of punishment. This is because with prejudice alone the person(s) aren't doing anything to harm anyone else in any way they just simply have a less than favorable belief and they would more likely avoid the group of people they have the (racial) prejudice against. I however wouldn't be against someone being found to have a prejudice that they haven't acted on in a harmful way to have to be involved in an educating seminar of some sort (like a one time 2-4 hour thing just to educate. Only once the threshold of discrimination is crossed should there be punishable litigation. Also would these charges be filed in Criminal or Civil Court exclusively or either or? This would change the dynamic drastically as there is no jail time in Civil Court (although the standard of proof is lesser). It would have to be noted also that the racist in question was convicted of such in Civil or Criminal Court since the burdens of proof are substantially different.

It's funny how people can really be crybabies because they didn't get their way. As soon as you give people a dose of their own medicine, they get mad. Yes, obviously I am being stubborn and not reading any significant part of the things that infested and derailed this conversation. It is because those same things started the convo with, "I'm not going to listen/watch/read what you posted first, I'm just gonna respond and talk about racism in my own way." You know where I fucked up? when I responded to Thing 1 in the first place. My first response shouldn't have been me responding to It in the first place. I shouldn't have been respectful. Not even once. It should've been me being just as disrespectful as IT was from the beginning. Cause now, now you all forgot that. It's clear as day, on page 1. I answer it's question and then I said, I'm not responding anymore to the troll. And since that post, I have. Just not to the same one. I keep forgetting that if you give someone an inch, they'll try to take a yard, which is what the things are attempting. They obviously read my posts because all they do is respond to it. Waiting for me, or someone else, to say stuff when they know I'm not going to read it. It's quite easy to talk shit to people when they' don't pay attention. but when it gets too close for comfort, Thing 2, they start changing their tune. Also, if you honestly think that I'm EVER going to take seriously what Napalmic said to me, you're bugging. We all know he's a bitch behind the keyboard. I don't need to do anything. "You should come when it's convenient for me." Pfft. You're a fucking idiot who's never been in a fight before. Unless your name is Floyd Mayweather, a fight happens once the 2 parties meet. It's not arranged on peoples times & schedules. It happens. Once he responded with "Saturday isn't a good day for me" that was it. There's no way you are no longer seen as a punk bitch in my eyes. The only way to redeem that, again this is just my point of view, is to actually see me in person and say something. Anything. But we all know it's not gonna happen and it's because "It's not a good day for me". Yes I've been in fights. Multiple times. Been jumped by urban kids in the hood cause they tried to rob me. I also got jumped by 4 white kids in Toms River while walking my dog (Not Vash) because they didn't like having a black family "out of place". I've had black kids say I sound white while having white people tell me I talk good for a black man. I've had white people ask to touch my hair because they never seen or touched a black person's hair before. Or, which is part of the reason why I cut off my dreads, white people would just grab my hair and start touching it, saying it's cool. WTF is wrong with you? If I went up to a blonde chick and just randomly touched her hair, I'd get arrested for sexual assault. But you can do it cause, y'know, how many white people see a black man with blue dreads? I've had problems on both sides. I've also had some good times too. Had a chick in the hood let me crash at her house when I was too drunk to get home. I also had a chick want me to fuck her & get her pregnant just to piss off her racist father. I've had kids call me all kinds of names and when that didn't work, they wanted to fight. Both black & white. So when I say that I see someone acting like a bigot or a racist, I'm referring to my own personal experiences. Not yours. I don't know your experience. Which is why I posted the video as a starting point for everyone. since we've all experienced racism in some shape, form or fashion, whether it's us on the receiving end or the one dishing it out, the video would be a "fair" starting point. And if you can't even get that, if it took me posting this for you to understand that, then you missed the point a while ago and this thread is clearly too much for you. Long story short, Just as you don't have to watch the video, I don't have to respond or read any comment I choose. For the exact same reason. In which I think I've made my point. You don't even have to watch the whole video at one time. It's on Youtube. You can watch it in parts. But nooooo. because it's almost an hour, that's too much time. Instead, you're gonna completely miss the point and then try to educate me or tell me your opinion. If you didn't watch the video AND you want to tell ME something, I am not interested nor am I going to rebuttal anything you say regarding racism. You are not worth it, to me. You seem ignorant as fuck. The same way Thing 2 can say it won't respect anyone whom it personally believes doesn't deserve basic/common courtesy or respect (which is one of the highest indicators that you're a rapist/racist/bigot). The difference between the 2, I actually have a reason that's posted clear as day to not talk to a specific type of people. People who don't watch the video and expect me to talk to them. I am singling them out, calling them names, belittling them and embarrassing them. It's called being racist. So congrats Thing 1, 2 & 3. You all are basically the closet bigots/racist on this site that I've been looking for. (These ARE the droids I've been looking for) and at least one of you say that you're a male but you clearly don't have any balls (thing 2).
napalmamaterasu
So your substance for calling others bigots is they didn't watch a video. Sure it may not have been the most respectful move but to equate that to racism/bigotry is such a reach. Racism and bigorty are ascertainable through serious (arguably repeated) actions and stances that show that it permeates through a persons entire existence. Not watching a video does not constitute this alone by any stretch of the imagination. You also prompted what should happen to people deemed racist. It may have taken "thing 2" awhile to do so but I have in part honored the original query. How do you know how we feel about this topic if you're not reading what we even say as you claim. As for giving me flak for having work I find it fair to ask... do you have a job or have had one in the past. Do you know the value of a days pay? You've gone on a "fight me" kind of vibe which wouldn't have been my intention personally. I was/would have simply told you that you've making unsunstianted claims of racism and/or bigotry. If your answer to that is something that hints at violence why go through the trouble and also that says something about you. If you have no credence to anything not said to your face then why does anything anybody says have value no matter how much they align with your beliefs. You had a legitimate point in there somewhere I'll give you that but you've handled and carried yourself horribly from there. If you wish to substantiate a racism claim show that the person in question has a prejudice and engages in discriminatory behavior SOLELY on race since racism is based off of race right? If you wish to substantiate a bigorty claim show that the person in question is completely intolerant of another opinion other than their own. Bigotry is intolerance of another opinion correct? Your experiences while noteworthy and enlightening are not a valid reason to engage in unsubstianted claims. You're focusing on the wrong things using me not wanting to meet at parx casino on one specific day as an excuse to avoid the very source of conflict. You've finally shown some substance so I acknowledge that but with respect to bigotry/racism your substance so far is very weak.
napalmamaterasu
Remember OP you also prompted what should happen to people deemed racists which I have answered so in part I have respected (sure it took me awhile) to heed even in part the original prompt. At this point to have me as a "thing" because I totally avoided the original prompt is invalid (it is partially valid but if you're going to harp on that - that is your problem)
kichigai913
Sure wish someone would respond that wasn't a troll
kichigai913
If you think that I'm not responding because I think you're racist because you didn't watch the video then you completely missed what I posted, further proving that you're an idiot
