I used to wonder about that when I was younger. But it always seemed to be a blasphemous thought to question religious aspects and origins, so I was often suppressed in that sense. However, I did break out of it and spend time by myself (away from the coerced preachings of family) to really look into it, and it didnt make sense to me. I am quite passionate about science, but I often kept both these topics separate. However, I couldnt go about some scientific aspects without meeting some gridlock with religion; and in the end I just dismantled all of them to see which one made more sense. I naturally leaned towards science; it gave more 'way' and fluidity which was refreshing and even liberating. It's purpose was more pleasing (understanding our existence and aspects of our environment; wheres religion was mostly about serving a higher power. It seemed more to put us in a much lower place. ) Given that, history is extremely hard to validate because we as humans have an innate curiosity; but this curiosity cannot be sated with 'word of mouth' , especially not now. We must see it happen right before our eyes or have some substantial proof to support a claim. Most of the religious stories I was told was just word of mouth; books whose authorship cannot be verified; and statements and rules to follow that just seem like restrictions made by man. I am, however, fascinated by the idea of a single entity creating this state of existence that we dwell in today. But as of now, I do not have any substantial support for it. I do respect people who are religious anyway; because I prefer to see people as human; not as some man-made label of belief. If it comes down to it, I will protect both a christian and a muslim for instance; because I dont see them as a representative of a religion but rather as a representative of a species that ought to strive to survive. All religions appear to have some if not all, parts to it which advocate goodness in their own sense, so theres that. Oh well, to each their own. :)
