Well - I don't know how I feel about the term myself; I don't use it very often whatsoever but I don't really see it as a derogatory term neither. Anime is one of my biggest passions and I adore it but I don't consider myself to be unhealthily obsessed with anime, Japan or the culture so I don't think weaboo or otaku fits me; I honestly consider myself as just an anime fan.

I always thought otaku was like a way of calling someone a nerd since down there if you watch anime most likely your a nerd or so i've heard. I dont consider myself a weeaboo since weeaboo is someone who is obsessed with the japanese culture and tries to pretend they are japanese. I dont pretend since im part japanese (through blood line) and i just like anime i dont really care much for anything else i would like to visit japan though

I don't use the term otaku, since it is derogatory in Japan. I prefer using the term weeaboo, since its derogatory here. Get at me weebs.

Having lived in Japan for so long, I can only think of it in the derogatory context. Mostly I think of Hikkikomori, but not all Hikkikomori are Otaku either. It's just a sad state of being where your obsession takes over your life. I don't really like the word as I think it only applies to a veeerry small subset of the population and it's often overapplied, even in Japan.

Well I consider myself an anime fan, if they say im Otaku I would accept it, but having clear that there are levels of admirers. Since im not in Japan, over here ignorant people can call me that without a problem. (I could create bad drama if I rant about that term so, to me it doesn´t matter). :)
