So i know the anime community throw around the term Otaku like it has basically a positive meaning and very few actually know it is a derogatory term in Japan and is a bad thing to be called. but i wanted people to voice their opinions on the matter do you see it how i see it as in, you are either a Weeb or an anime fan.

Humans. Whether they're called weebs, otaku, anime fans, or etc, you're still talking to a human. What's the difference between the labels and does it matter in the end? You're either a weeb or an anime fan? What of people who don't like it or those who only like specific ones. Would you say they were anime fans or romance fans? Generic labels have always been unattractive to me, and that's the case now. But, to each their own.

Lol Uhm, Otaku is someone that is into Japanese culture and is not a bad thing to be called in Japan. I've been to panels that have people from Japan that outline it as a good thing in and out of Japan. Calling your self Otaku is just saying that you're a Japanese Enthusiast.
Weeb, weeboo, weab or whatever is suppose to have a negative connotation to it but whatever. I like anime or immersed in Japanese lifestyle, I'm a weeb. Who cares?
Anyone that categorizes people with negative things associated are usually misinformed and would rather judge than be educated and fully understand. All in all, Anime related or not, is not something that is needed.

Otaku is the Japanese term for an obsessive interest in computers or aspects of popular culture, it is mainly seen in a negative light.
Western outlets confuse themselves with this term which results in it being portrayed as good when it never was.
I think it's good to call yourself a fan but otaku is a bit far (unless you are truly obsessed in which case that claim is open) ;)
