I'm just saying that some are just idiotic. I can see why there are some laws like how if you have a felony you can't own a gun but some are stupid. There is one they're trying to pass that says you can't have gun with a bullet button. @sunbae What guns do you have?

Sunbae, that is pretty insane that Mateen was able to legally purchase a gun. As you mentioned, there were quite a few red flags that any decent background check should have been able to shine a light on.

We found a loophole to have detachable magazines and then they go ahead and trash it! an 1887 tactical shotgun and an M9 Beretta named Schokolade. The M9 Beretta is under my father's name, but due to the Child-Parent rule, I can legally use it. @Magic like seriously. It was too easy to get guns. If you're a gun owner, I say mental health check every 3 months. If you weren't crazy, you'd have nothing to hide. Background checks pleaseeeeee. We do it for universities here in CA, so why not firearms? But on another note, technically, an IED would do the most amount of damage and the components that make it are all legal. If you're talking about the legal definition, it's not an assault rifle. Since it technically has no detachable parts, it's not an assault rifle. What makes me cringe is when the media immediately calls any tactical long rifle an AR15. It happened at the orlando guy. Don't let the media tell you it was an AR15. I know a Sig when I see one. Once I'm 21, I'm purchasing a Sig Sauer p250.

You can obtain automatics legally through a Class III, but you have to pay for a NFA and outrageous amounts of paperwork including background checks. The cost of one is in the double digits of thousands though, since the Hughes Amendment prohibits the creation of machine guns past 1986. All that in mind, for him to obtain a machine gun legally especially in that time frame is impossible. It was most likely a illegally converted machine gun, so I second Sunbae.

Sunbae, but there's also a lot more that goes into an attack involving an IED. It's far easier to botch. Such as the man who failed to blow himself up with a shoe bomb on a flight from Miami to Paris. It's kinda hard to botch an attack when you have an assault rifle.
