How much time should you wait before having sex with your partner?

sanfi
@Rebel I think you should just be with her and have a great time. The two of you probably already do something like cuddling or kissing while watching a movie, due to you talking about sex. Just continue doing that. Just try to find out a little bit what her borders are every once in a while. I'm not telling you to suddenly but your hand where it doesn't belong, but just try to progress in a way that feels natural. She sounds like she is perfectly capable of vocalising what she doesn't want, so if you cross a line, she'll let you now. This doesn't mean you have to stop everything that's been going on up until then. That would only make her feel like sex s all you want. Instead you should till her you're fine with that (mean it!) and go back to kissing/cuddling/whatever you were doing before, because if you suddenly stop, she'll notice and it might hurt her feelings. That's what I've learned so far with my first gf who I didn't sleep with in the four months we dated. It was probably the best relationship I had still ^^

Let it come naturally and when ever you both feel comfortable. For me there is no right or wrong. I have been with people I have waited a while for and another where the chemistry was crazy and it took about 30 minutes on our first date (we had spoken for months before we met) Don't feel pressured and don't put pressure on the other person. enjoy spending time together and getting to know each other.

I also agree that both parties should be ready for the act and, as Ringo_Blue said here, they should understand the process and the consequences of it. I also think the circumstances are also important to consider and not take any risks if possible.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, and wait some more. I got involved physically way too early and on too many occasions when I should have just waited and I absolutely regret it. For me, it was typically one of a few scenarios: 1) One night stands that I immediately felt like I regretted because I'm the kind of person that needs an emotional connection. 2) The opposite party staying in the relationship for the sex rather than because we'd developed an actual loving relationship, but then eventually leaving once the physical interest has passed. Sex makes your brain do wacky things. For some people it can make them think, "I had sex with this person, which means we now have a connection, so now I love them." Which you may recognize as NOT BEING how it's supposed to work AT ALL. Now, that's not to say that some people aren't of the right mindset for being able to enjoy one-offs carefree. I'm just not one of those people. It always left me with a sad and empty feeling every time. As an example, there was one girl that I absolutely adored, but she had a boyfriend. When they broke up, I made my move and we started getting involved. After a couple days, we hit the bedroom. The day after, as though she had gotten me out of her system, she went back to her ex. I was completely floored. Now, there's no guarantee that if we had dated longer before that, she would have stayed; but at least I wouldn't have felt as used as I did.

That's some sage advice from Manami. It's worth noting that your condoms don't necessarily have to be that cute (although it helps). :P

It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
