Now this doesnt qualify as listening music, but for music to pull you into the game, i would say Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume for Nintendo DS.

I'm not sure if anyone has said this already but for me it would definitely be the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. Yoko Shimomura does an excellent job in portraying the moods in the game when there is a battle the music just brings you into the battle as well. From start to finish, FF6 soundtrack is amazing. Personal favorites of mine are the mines of narshe, metamorphosis, Cyans theme, relms theme, and the boss theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLpjPht5mvg FFX, Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario RPG, all have great soundtracks!

Also, Melty Blood: Actress Again has a great soundtrack. It has a mix of basically every genre, yet you can tell it's from that game.

Uhh~ I can't get enough of game sountdracks. So many games has a marvellous soundtrack - so I want to try to draw up a shortlist: - Tracks by Nobuo Uematsu, Shoji Meguri, Yasunori Mitsuda, Noriyuki Iwadare and Poki - Transistor OST - Witcher 3 OST
