Ghost in the Shell Movie?

Why are people suprised anyway? It's Hollywood. My nation is represented as a)hoes, b) the mafia and c) generally the bad guys. There's little you can do since all Hollywood cares about is the office box race and keeping their propaganda schemes working. The "Ghost in the Shell" movie is BASED on the manga... So it's not a copy nor an exact adaption. They left enough room by stating that to change races, locations and pretty much everything else. I read the Wikipedia article and they did cast Asians. They also started filming on Febuary 1st in NZ. Not Japan... Apparently they even want to change the major's name. So in the Hollywood adaption her character really will be white. It also seems like it's mainly international fans that cry wolf... Not Japanese ones. They actually just seem to be glad that something of Japanese origin gets Hollywood screen time at all. Also I really like Johansson... So I'm all for it. However, I don't have high expectations anyway.. I never do with live action adaptions of anime/manga. Only leads to disappointment, lol.

A number of good points are raised in this video: http://youtu.be/eKkp2jjOk88 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKkp2jjOk88

I wish Hollywood and America in general were more open minded to anime and Asian culture in general, but sadly we're not there yet. I feel the same about black characters in anime. You see them here and there, but never really in prominent roles. And it's understandable because anime isn't made by or for black people. It's made by Japanese who definitely are fascinated with white people. So it's really up to the Japanese to create accurate depictions of themselves and for themselves. Hollywood is white and it's going to do whatever it wants with it's platform. I also feel that Hollywood will make a pretty bad adaptation of GITS regardless of the actress and her ethnicity, so there's always going to be that, LOL. More times than not, these adaptations suck.

I'm going to go see it just to see if the rumor of them using CGI to alter the ethnicity of some of the background actors will stay or not. Rumor has it that they (The Production company) attempted to alter the ethnicity of some of the background actors but trashed the idea after experimenting. I wonder if they'll slip it in somehow? Dunno but I think it'll entertaining to see Hollywood's version of GITS.

eh, its honestly nothing new so I don't really care. I'm more worried about how they plan on executing the movie. We all know that Hollywood hasn't had the best track record for life action version of manga/shows. If done right cool, I mean SJ is one of my favorite actors and I believe she would be more than capable of playing the part but it still takes more than a good acting to make a movie great. Guess only time will tell x)
