@Daggerfall just a heads up, age of consent DOES NOT MEAN adults can have sex with them Age of consent means they are at the age of being able to have sex without it being deemed rape. I.E In canada 16 years old (im not sure why you said 14 but as far as Im concerned its 16) so 16 year olds are allowed to have sex with 16,17 and 18 year olds but thats it, any one younger they;ll be deemed the child molester, anyone older that person will be deemed a child molester/predator but just so all of you know. let me drop some facts about Pedophilia/Child molesters so ya'll can be educated. 1. Not all child molesters (hell most arent) are pedophiles and not all pedophiles are child molesters 2. being a pedophile is not deemed a mental illness, their is barely any research done ANYWHERE on pedophilia, in fact most people are split, a few saying its a mental illness where as majority deem it a sexual orintation such as homosexuality, hetrosexuality, pansexuality etc etc 3. We have no clue STATISTICALLY how many pedophiles there are in the world, if we line up a 100 people, statistically speaking we can deem how many of them are murders, theives, rapists, saints etc etc etc, but not pedophiles, again because of point one and two, many child molesters are just scum bags who got high/drunk/scum bags who'd fuck animals if people arent around. and most pedophiles force themselves to endure their urges 4. Being a pedophile is HORRIBLE for the person themselves. imagine this. growing up you obviously hear about pedophiles and what not, either from family warning you/friends/school mates making jokes, but you hear about them and know they are hated and despised, and you think you're perfectly normal. nothing wrong with you, you like people your age, and as you grow older your tastes age as well. but than one day, you notice you start looking at younger people more (even if youre a teen) most people brush it off at hormones but than the thoughts come in, than the urges come in and you realize youre not attracted to people your age. and you slowly realize what you are. a pedophile. and with most, (from my own research) you feel disgusted byu yourself, youre the monster you grew up hating and you have no clue why. you want to talk to family. but they'll hate you same with the rest of the community, you go to the police but they cant step in because you haven't done a crime yet. and again, no research done into it so therapy doesn't help as much, in fact the way it kicks in a lot of people think its similar to growing up lesbian/homosexual because a lot of people think their straight, and than they realize they aren't straight anymore. its not like a fetish where you slowly dig yourself into it, its sprung onto you. and most support groups are anonymous and make you feel more shame. its an urge you cant control, you never wanted that will ruin your life the second its found out. (now of course there are those pedophiles out there that accept it and relish in it but again we cant tell if their the majority or the minority) I had more points but I ate 10 pieces of french toast and now cant think.

Why does this topic exist? We've had topics like these millions of times and it's getting REALLY old. One side will justify ppl's attractions to underaged ppl then the other side will condemn anyone who thinks it's ok to sleep with someone who is underage or willing to. Neither side is going to budge. Seriously this topic is a waste of time and should be burned to the ground. I'm sick and tired of topics like these.

I've noticed that most men that believe in pedophilia are usually Grown men whom are intimidated by women they're own age or still believe that they are still younger in some aspects, also Pedophiles usually see the young as lesser and easier to manipulate or they are attracted towards the inexperience of the young, it makes them seem superior or dominant. But often they flock toward the young in hopes that they can brainwash them into affection because by standards of women their own age... They are imperfect and flawed or outright disgusting. Children are young and inexperienced indeed, also the fruit of they're youth are still much more "Fresh", i feel sick by just saying that... but what grown people fail to understand and take into consideration is that children or the young are still very inexperienced and should only be allowed to experience the sensations of life with people of equal age, experience and maturity. Children are pure and innocent; not by Social status and certainly Not by Cultural preference, but by the mere fact that they are inexperienced and often do not have a full understanding of world around them or do not understand their own feelings just yet. To try and brainwash them or put them in an environment where they have not gained an understanding by themselves is wrong, and i don't care who you are or what culture you come from; every person is born with intuitive judgement in terms of right and wrong, Impulse control is what separates us from animals. It does seem like people the majority of people defending such beliefs are people stay in their comfort zones and formulate bias opinions from their own insecurities and vices, it also seems like the majority are trying to justify themselves or what they do; which is extremely sad, You are not defending a righteous belief or logical belief, what you are actually defending is your own selfish and perverse desires. The whole idea is a mental sickness. I feel disgusted knowing that this belief is prevalent in this community. You guys need help and need to seriously get out there and actually experience life instead of formulating opinions from some anime you watch. I'm out! Witcher 3 awaits!

@Uninterested You are absolutely right about a portion of pedophiles and all people who corrupt innocent children. However, just as it is just wrong to say for example that all black people or criminals, it's wrong to say that everybody with pedophilic thoughts is evil. A lot of what Daredevil says sounds very plausible and it shows us that there is no black and white. That's the problem with all the heated arguments on MO it seems. There's always the one side against the other. I'm here to say that both sides are right as much as they are wrong. I don't think people should be condemned by their thoughts, because all of us have had thoughts that weren't so nice in our life. Granted it's a big difference between 'look at that ugly girl' and 'I want to have sex with that little child', but for my argument that doesn't really matter, because I'm trying to say that people are good or bad because of their actions. If you bully, you are a (relatively) bad person; if you think mean things about somebody it doesn't make you an inherently bad person. Also, what you said about that every child is born with a intuitive judgement of right and wrong is just not true. If you ever met a real psychopath, you would know that.

That truly was my last post on this thread. Sorry, if this causes another heated argument, but I'm trying to say that there is no one correct side, because life just doesn't work like that. Both sides are correct, because we're not talking about one individual, but a group of people and it's near impossible to do a statement that rings truth with an entire group of people
