Visual Novels?

gaminglover
ok so...I've been trying to experiment with a few good VNs lately and... how should I put this? I know its gonna sound silly/stupid either way but... a part of me is now wanting these characters to be real, to actually meet them. Is this feeling normal, or am I just suffering from some side effect of starting VNs and I need to remember that I'm in reality and its nothing but a story?

Thats just the result of good writing. As someone who is leading the development of a Visual Novel project, I can say that the best characters are the ones you can relate to on a human level. Too much fluff, and it becomes hard to engage the emotions of the player, thus making it harder to create a lasting appeal between the player and the characters. Writing for visual novels is very different from writing for typical novels, since you have visual and audio components to synthesize with the writing in order to create a certain immersive synergy. In short, yes, its normal. Please play responsibly. Since this is probably the 10th time I mentioned said visual novel project, I suppose now is as good a time as any to show a sneak peak of the one I'm working on, just so I don't look like that guy who is only pretending to develop something just to look cool. A VN that I've been pretty impressed with is the Sunrider series. There is actually turn-based strategy gameplay within, and the soundtrack is amazing in my opinion. The story is just okay, and your choices don't seem to matter until Liberation Day, but I still quite enjoyed it. True Remembrance is an example of a VN with no choices that was still a great experience. Sunrider has some of that 18+ but I think the Steam version (first two games come in one and are free) has it removed unless you get a special patched.

My favourite visual novel is If My Heart Had Wings, I've put over 400 hours into it so far :3 http://i.imgur.com/bxYU0AH.gifv

So, a small update. Currently hoping to try "If my Heart had Wings" but I'm gonna try to get it patched first. as for now, I recently finished a free one on steam called "Everlasting Summer" and... HOLY HELL what did I stumble into?!?! hopefully someone will know what I'm talking about. The story is...well jumbled, and yet irritating me b/c I want to know the truth. Of course that didn't stop from enjoying the story. FYI I cleared all the routes already and the endings but I'm still confused on the story.
