Generation 1 is a remake of Phantasy Star I, it has updated visuals, music and dialogue, it has first person dungeons and the fan translation of the game is much better. As for the best? I'd say Generation 1 and 2 on PS2 and Phantasy Star IV are the best of the entire series.

Final fantasy has its place, but honestly, its a one-trick pony as far as series go, and hasn't contributed to the RPG genre to the same degree as Phantasy Star.
