Anal is a Felony

Yeah, had a friend just bring this document to my attention. http://www.legislature.mi.gov/documents/2015-2016/billengrossed/Senate/pdf/2015-SEBS-0219.pdf Apparently sodomy between two consenting adults, regardless of sexes, is a felony in Michigan. What's funny is that other than one specific phrase, this bill is is focused on animal welfare. Here's the snippet from the pdf. "Sec. 158. (1) Any person who shall commit the abominable and detestable crime against nature EITHER WITH MANKIND OR with any animal shall be guilty of a FELONY, punishable by imprisonment in the STATE PRISON for not more than 15 YEARS, or if such person was a sexually delinquent person at the time of the offense: a FELONY punishable by imprisonment in the STATE PRISON for an indeterminate term, the minimum of which shall be 1 day and the maximum of which shall be LIFE. " To find it in the document just use Ctrl+F and search for "Sec. 158." The amount of felonies in Michigan skyrocketed. XD! Just a friendly reminder to everyone that's here from the States... Pay attention to what you're having your representatives vote on.

This is a state that really needs to re-evaluate it's priorities.

@SarcasticDesire: Definitely. All these problems with Flint's tainted water supply and THIS is the kind of shit that passes through our representatives.

Idaho, Utah, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana still have anti-sodomy laws too. Though it's been deemed unconstitutional by the SCOTUS and completely unenforceable. I see it as another reminder to always read the wording of the bills extremely carefully. Politicians like to tack things on that don't belong.

Can't have sex in most states in any other position than missionary, too... But, these types of laws are a bit antiquated and more or less joke laws. Dumblaws.com has a litany of these kinds of unenforced "laws".

If you look into it there are a lot of ridiculous laws across the world that nobody really seems to respect anyway. In Michigan gay marriage is legal and at least one pride parade takes place every year (probably more.. I only know of one). Yet sodomy is illegal? I think they're just too lazy to update the laws, lmao. There are multiple websites dedicated to dumb laws.

@yaasshat: Cases of this in other states (a popular one being; Lawrence v. Texas) had actually gone to the Supreme Court of the United States in the past. They declared it unconstitutional and unenforceable, though the laws remain on the books. The thing is, most (but not all) of those laws you're referring to (a lot of them are pretty funny), are as you said, antiquated. They're old. The thing is though, this bill was passed fairly recently. The bill itself being a list of good things, mainly focused towards stopping animal abuse and bestiality. But our taxes are be used to push for this shit. Someone had an agenda of some sort to push, and abused a bill people have been wanting to help animals with, in order to slip that agenda through. Regardless if it's unenforceable or not, I'd call this wasted money and time that could have been better spent elsewhere. As well as some serious incompetence.

Won't be long before it becomes punishable by death.

If you're a U.S citizen like me, you're paying these guys to waste time and money on "joke laws" like this. That's the real crime here.
