Any Valkyria Chronicles Fans out there?

hans_von_hengleford
As the title suggests, I'm a massive fan of Valkyria Chronicles and I was wondering if there are any-other Fellow Gallians out there! For those who aren't too familiar with this truly amazing Action/Romance wonder, have a quick read through of this summary: Valkyria Chronicles is set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of 1930s Europe. The continent, called Europa, is divided into two main powers: The Imperial Empire, a monarchy in the east, and the alliance of democracies called the Federation in the west. In this world, there is a very important resource called ragnite; its uses range from fueling weapons of war to use in medical treatments. Since ragnite is such an important resource, the Federation and the Empire are constantly at war with each other for it. The story takes place in the neutral country of Gallia, known for its bountiful reserves of ragnite, when the Empire decides to invade and seize the ragnite for themselves. The story follows Welkin, the son of a former war hero; Isara, Welkin's Darcsen adoptive sister; and Alicia, a member of the Bruhl town watch, as they fight the Imperials in the ragtag Gallian militia group, Squad 7. Squad 7 fights to regain their homes and livelihoods with Welkin as the squad leader and commander of the Edelweiss tank; Alicia as a scout; Isara as the pilot of the Edelweiss, and a variety of colorful individuals. I suggest giving it a try, The Anime series itself I believe has one of the best back-stories & character development's of all time. The game (which is purchasable on PS3 & Steam) is a Turn Based Strategy game. It's story isn't as detailed as the Anime but it does provide plenty of entertainment. Please let me know what you think! - Hans.

I'm a huge fan of the original for the PS3, but I ended up jumping ship on the series because I never owned a PSP. The first game is fantastic though, and I particularly like the DLC for it.

Likewise, I loved the First game but I've never been able to play the others (no PSP either.) :P

The mission that always stands out to me is Chapter 7 where you battle Maximilian's Batomys. It's legendary for me. You're fighting the giant tank and doing alright, and then Selvaria shows up and ruins everything at the midway point. First time I played, she completely decimated my squad in about two turns, but the reward was discovering how to maneuver my squad so I could complete the mission without losing anyone. It's really challenging, but it makes you feel awesome when you're victorious.

Why the hell we never got VC3 is beyond me. At least the Steam version of VC did well, and if the PS4 remaster does well too, hopefully it'll at least mean 4 will have a shot at coming over too sometime down the road.

Utaghoul- Yeah, I loved that mission! Quite difficult, totally didn't watch a tutorial to get past it or anything ;P Cecil- I have yet to play either VC2 or 3... Are they any good? :)

VC2 is solid. I don't think the story is quite as good as the first, but the core gameplay is still there. Can't say anything about 3 because they never localized it for the west. All the impressions from the Japanese version I've read and gameplay I've seen make it seem pretty good, but yeah, we'll probably never see it at this point. That's why I'm keeping my hopes up the VC:R does well so Sega might actually bother bringing 4 over as well. And hell, Sega did just announce 7th Dragon 3 for the US on the 3DS and that's an RPG series we never got an entry in before so maybe Sega is finally starting to change its tune ever so slightly on localizing more of their japanese contest for the west. One can hope anyways.

Ha, fingers crossed that VC:R is actually good ^_^

Ey, VC1 has been quite a great game for me. Played the story from start to finish and I loved it. I haven't heard too many good things about VC2, but I hear VC3 is decent. A friend of mine who had played VC2 first had loved it, but after I showed him the first game, he could not go back. Looking forward to the new game.

Still need to finish the first game. I'm dragging my feet because I'm playing too many things at once.
