It's true there is a very thin line between Bi and Pan. From what I have learned Bisexuals only go for either men or women, but have no interest in those that are transgendered in any way shape or form. I honestly hate the whole label thing, you should be able to love the person you love. As I have said before you love a person and not a gender.

My opinion is that pansexual people tend to treat everyone they meet the same way, regardless of how they look. Because they don't usually judge anyone by their physical traits. Loosely similarly defined with bisexual people as well.

Personal opinion on this is I really don't like people who are doing it to be trendy and that's mostly because my friend who is bi was bi "before it was cool" not to make her sound like a hipster and she can smell a trend bi from a mile away and she hates them. A way to tell a trend bi from a real bi or pan is first off what do they look like? If they look like regular people they are probably legit if they look like girls (generally being the trendy ones)that shop at hot topic they are probably fake. Also their age. Are they adults? Then they are probably legit. Are they still in highschool or younger? Then they are probably fake. Oh and do they talk about it all the time do they bring it up every chance they get like they are bragging or rubbing it in your face about being bi? If so they are probably a fake person in general and you should stay away from them. As for how I feel about people with a different sexuality then straight you respect me I respect you we are cool but that's just general for everyone no matter who you are. As for if I would date them first off I'm straight so that cuts dudes out of the picture. Second I'd prefer to go after strait girls it might sound a little messed but the less people I have to compete with the better. Now after we are already in the relationship I would already know she wanted me so no problems I don't have to compete with anyone except my self anymore but dudes are enough to compete with I don't need to be competing with girls too. Last I think we would just get along better I mean the more you have in common the better right? Of course you don't want to be the exact same but sharing the same core feelings is always good. That's not to say I wouldn't date a bi or pan girl I just prefer to find a straight girl. Then that's just me and my opinion I hope I didn't offend any one ^_^ I respect everyone we are all friends here.

I'm bi, but I find the phrase pansexual to be annoying. Not because of the people who use it (although a good percentage of them are complete twits, in the admittably non-comprehensive experience of myself and my friends), but because it seems like an exaggeration when anyone outside of fiction uses it, and there's not really any word as far as I know that covers the realistic range between bi* and pan* beyond unwieldy phrases like "bi and hermaphrophilic". I'm an English Major, though, so that may just be our special type of weirdness. As for trendiness, that's just annoying, but sometimes bicurious people get caught up in the trend and assume that because they're questioning, or /completely/ misunderstand the ramifications of pansexuality, they must qualify, and it's a naive judgement rather than a bad personality. Edit: Oh, if we're giving our personal definitions of pansexuality, I use Captain Jack Harkness as a comparative example (I left it out earlier for diplomatic reasons). If you're not willing to do it with a full-metal robot, or a tentaclebeast from Betelgeuse, or a particularly attractive chair, and your reason isn't because that /specific/ specimen isn't attractive, you're probably not pansexual. You might be /really interesting/, but probably not pansexual.
