Awakening isn't a bad way to get into FE imo, at least if you need something to tide you over until the new ones drop, given how it's still relatively easy to get ahold of and how expensive the GCN and Wii games have gotten in recent years. Some of the later stages can be more challenging in Awakening, but that's half the fun of a strat RPG imo.
