any thing to start me back off with, I used to listen to only Japanese black metal like dir en grey, and X-japan I wanna get into the pop culture. Anyone know any good starters?

If you want general J-pop, then try Ayumi Hamasaki or Yuzu. More alternative rock-oriented choices would be YUI or Stereopony (they disbanded though last time I checked). Idol j-pop groups I'd recommend are 9nine or PASSPO*. EXILE or SMAP x SMAP would be the guy versions of them. There is also L'Arc-en-Ciel, Nothing's Carved in Stone, or GACKT. As for K-pop, I wouldn't recommend most of the stuff out there today. If anything, just listen to Koyote, Kim Jong Kook, or maybe even Wonder Girls' earlier works.

PLEASE LISTEN TO BABYMETAL !! Their music is a mixture of hardcore death metal and japanese pop...they rock so hard and it's such a refreshing sound (p.s. I saw them in concert and it was one of the best experiences of my life) xD did I mention the singers are kawaii teenage school girls?
