I really enjoyed reading Arc's, Maria's and Sunflower's latest offerings today. Feel free to join in if you want to. Installment 10 (Previous installments are on pages 151, 166 214, 220, 246, 253, 260, 269, 271): “Sorry for taking so long and leaving you stranded. I had a mosquito buzzing in my ear” she stated jokingly. The woman held up her slender hand and said, “Not at all, not at all. I’m ashamed; I didn’t even have the courtesy to introduce myself. I’m Josephina Krastel, Countess of Borealis.”. Veruca took her hand and shook it enthusiastically. The Countess’ grip was surprisingly strong. She had to finally extricate herself from the aristocrat’s grip. As Josephina was seating herself again she mentioned, “I heard that this little hamlet is known for its number of virtuous young people. There is probably quite a lot of romance and young love here.”. “That’s true. A certain woman, Maria, is very popular for example. Most of the unmarried men in the village are vying for her attention. She has said that she wants men as slaves.” Josephina’s left eyebrow jumped upon hearing this. Her usually serene demeanour was punctured for a moment. “You should never toy with someone else’s heart. When a person gives you their love you should stay faithful and committed to that person-for ever more.”, she says in an unusually loud voice. In the face of such passion Veruca could only reply sheepishly, “It’s only a bit of fun. Her “slaves” enjoy it too.”. Clearly not totally satisfied, Josephina changed the focus of the conversation “What about you? You’re probably very popular with the men…and some woman.” Josephina’s eyes intensely analysed Veruca’s body. She seemed to undress her with her eyes. Veruca noisily cleared out her throat. “Uhm, my eyes are up here.”. “My sincerest apologies. I get carried away sometimes. You are probably involved in a lot of these romances”. Veruca felt all the worries about Lux and Arc weighing on her. She wanted to tell someone about these thoughts she had. “I’m not in a relationship at the moment. I was spending a lot of time with one guy. I thought we had something but it looks like he has his eye on another girl. I liked to watch another guy from afar but I don’t know how he feels about me either.”. Veruca blurts all her feelings out. “The guy you were watching from afar is named Arc, right?”, the Countess says pointedly. Veruca hesitantly nodded in the affirmative. Rain began to tap against the windows. As it became an incessant torrent Veruca wondered how she knew Arc? Josephina stood up and rose to her full height as she stated, “No one can love Arc like me!” The aristocrat moved towards Veruca with her hands outstretched. Crrrrksh! The window broke and Lenny burst in. Before Josephina could turn she was tackled by Lenny. Whilst Lenny was on top of the Countess she turned and screamed “You have to run Veruca!
