Even though I've only been to one con, I learned this much. -Bring more than $40 as spending money, there's a lot of stuff to buy that will be worth it. -Going alone may suck for a while, but finding friends you know from home by accident makes it much better. -People will do some weird stuff for cosplay, including wearing nothing but a hat and a few belts. -If you bond with someone over a game, you'll make many friends quickly. -Making people sing Bohemian Rhapsody while they wait for a premiere makes everyone happy.

Going with way too many people will be a living hell and drama will ensue. Its okay not to go in cosplay just as its okay to go in cosplay, in fact I've had more fun out of cosplay. You probably will not make it to all the panels you've planned, it just doesn't work that way. Go to weird panels, they're actually a lot of fun. (I.e. 5000+ hrs in ms paint was everything I wanted and more) Raves are not as fun as you think they are, some are just cringe material. Remember to eat and wear comfortable shoes. You will never have enough money. If your friend offers to get you food, get your ass up and go! Living in the gaming room is also fun too. Look around ALL of the merchants before you buy something. If you really want something buy it the first day, it will NOT be there by the last day. Support artists. Its a lot harder to make friends at a con than you might think. (maybe its just me) I've honestly never had the guts to go to a convention alone so I don't know how that is. I have a ton of other advice but its mostly cosplay related. Nevertheless I fucking love cons.
