Also the phrase "ignorance is bliss" reminds me of that line from Shakespeare. You know the one: To be or not to be. And in regards to your second question, I would rather face my thousand shocks than live a life free of pain. But if such pain necessitates unhappiness then I would rather live a fool's joy. We all have to die when our time comes but if we live life on our terms then we don't die with regret. So whose the real fool? The person who dies with more pride or more joy?
