First, he's being stupid in the first place both admitting to a relationship and having it just because of legal issues. Supposedly they just talk online, if true than there is nothing technically illegal going on but it's a bad idea even for appearance sake. Second, relationships like this are not the least bit unusual (younger teen girls dating older teen guys) so it doesn't really deserve all the attention. I've stated before that it was common in my school for freshman girls to lose their virginity to senior guys (14yr old girls with guys that are 17 or 18). Both students and teachers knew about these relationships since it usually occurred on school trips. But this was the early 90s before everyone was considered a "pedo" just for dating someone under 18. Although it was technically illegal since age of consent is 16 in my home state.
