Never really listened to any Modern Japanese music, But i remember i was very fond of Zen Music with Traditional Flute, Koto and Shamisen tunes; Because i first started discovering the Japanese culture through my Judo Class and school, i had friend who was half Japanese and after class we would spar and would practice with some bokken we carved out one summer; All my years of Martial arts, From KM, BJJ to Judo and Muay thai, i've always loved the Ancient Samurai, to me... it was a worthy attitude to model myself with. Not saying i'm a japanophile or anything, i Admire various cultures and art. but i always respected Japanese culture because it was the closest i've gotten close to besides my own.

I'd say my favorite japanese band is BABYMETAL because the fusion of heavy metal/screamo/death metal rock mixed with jpop sounding kawaii pre teens girls is pure genius! Their sound is so unique and the fact that they're able to project such profound lyrics while still being able to look like extremely bad ass metal goddesses completely blows my mind x3 I saw them in concert when they came to perform in my hometown and in all honestly, I have never moshpited so hard in my entire life up until that point xD It was such a great experience, and I respect those girls so much!

I love Dir En grey. They have this slipknot esque to them and I love it. I like Mejibray, Kiryu, Daizy Stripper, Lycaon, Diaura, etc. Coldrain is similar to ONE OK ROCK. They are both post-hardcore Japanese bands that sing in English. Babymetal has catchy lyrics and I used to like them but not my favorite. There's this other jrock group very similar to Babymetal called LadyBaby. The lead is an Australian guy who cross dresses and has a full grown beard and sings along with two girls. I like visual kei as you can see.

I went through a visual kei phase, so I feel that! Now, I can't get enough of acoustics <3

~Oniiai~ -- Dir en Grey and Slipknot are both nu-metal, hence the similar sound. :3
