its not a scam damnit stop spreading misinformation. what you're linking to is hackers taking advantage of the situation and pretending to be microsoft and linking and sending an email to ransomware. Also you can disable data sent over.
You havent tried it. Also what do you mean by waste of space literally. This iteration of Windows is even lighter on disk space usage as compared to previous iterations. Also boots up several seconds faster than win 7 on my SSD
For anyone who doesnt know. Also to explain the situation better for anyone who may stumble on to this thread. Windows 10 is free to upgrade to from windows 7/8 within the first year. After upgrading the key should be tied to your hardware and you are free to use win10 indefinitely free of cost. If you decide not to upgrade within that first year thats when you'd otherwise pay to upgrade.
However windows 10 isn't truly free in the situation if you are buying new. EXAMPLE if you were to buy a new motherboard (as the key is tied to your hardware *i believe its the motherboard but not sure* or building a Pc from scratch with no previous operating system installed. You'd then have to buy windows 10 well assuming you want it that is.
