Does anybody else think it's really weird for a dating website to allow people under 18 to join? It's kinda risky don't you think?

Well in defense of it, te target demographic (otaku) is usually expected to be between 16-22. That said, im 27 and on this site, and have been henpecked for my age at least once or twice

You know, until the law says otherwise. Some states have lax age of consent. Doesn't mean my standards also lax

Even so, younger members should be marked somewhere people can see how old they are in forum posts etc. Some younger members are also personally offended when they're turned down for their age. Dating is an adult activity! It's just weird to me

We've attempted to make it such a while back, unfortunately there was a lot of backlash, therefor it was kept as it is.

It is because technically according to the law you're a child until you're 18. The second you hit 18 you can date whoever you want. If you want to date someone under 18 that's fine. Over 18 could be trouble because that's statutory rape if you sleep together. Even suggesting that you'll sleep together is against the law. As a law abiding citizen, I think dating under 18 is wrong unless the other is also under 18. Fin~
