What is the 1st anime you watched that turned you into an Otaku??

The first anime that I ever watched was Sailor Moon. The first set of anime that really got me hooked was Angel Beats and Clannad. I never thought anime could be so heart-wrenching until I watched both of those series.

Honestly I think it was a mix of Inuyasha and Naruto when I was a kid...like 4th and 7th grade were kind of weeaboo mode then high school I started to read more shojo and a mixture of anime was watched. I became one just by chance not really anything that stood out. Then I got into roleplaying and video games like Kingdom Hearts. So a mixture!

Technically Speed Racer was my 1st anime but it wasn't what made me an Otaku especially since I thought it was a cartoon (It played on MTV in the early 90's). Dragonball Z was another one of my firsts but again... It didn't really turn me into an Otaku either I think. Probably Love Hina then. That was my first fully subbed series, and I remember the cultural differences intrigued me. Also maybe Rurouni Kenshin. That was what prompted me to buy my first katana which I still have to this day. xD It was so long ago. xD Sorry for my mess of an answer. This was a really neat question though!

Technically it was Robotech that got me introduced even though it can't truly be classified as Japanese Anime, it got me exposed to the genre and from there I moved on to Dagger of Kamui, MD Geist and Ninja Scroll. Ninja Scroll is what really got me hooked though

Technically, it was DBZ on toonami, but back then I didn't even know of the term "anime" until I played a game called Orphen on the ps2 and learned it was based off an anime, so I bought the series on VHS and that's what started my anime craze, lol.

well hello i am nathan, it all started one cold, cold evening. a storm was brewing outside, lightning flashed and lit my surrondings, i was still innocent. i had my whole life ahead of me! but then, as i, an innocent boy of 10, stumble upon something called... Naruto. my life has never been the same since, in and out of addiction centers.. kidding, but yeah my first one was naruto, started when it was like 100 episodes in so that was a bitch to catch up ;p

Naruto was my first anime but, Bleach turned me into an Otaku. I know that those are 2 of the most mainstream anime ever and I'm not sorry.
