Well I've gotten comments by people that were directed at me that made me feel like being bi was pointless or that I just needed to choose which I liked better, because liking one gender is all that really mattered in the end. Even when I was on an LGBT site they talked to me like that. I don't really like it either when people are like that.

Personally I don't take some gay or bi people (mostly guys) seriously because I've been hit on by gay and bi friends in the past. It's important to draw scope to the fact that it's not their sexuality thats in question but their demeanor and behaviors. I've remained friends with these people after addressing the situations when necessary in defense of my own comfort. I don't like feeling targeted in that way and the reason I don't always take them seriously has been because they've expressed themselves in a seemingly innocent way while communicating their attraction. It sends a mixed signal. It's the same as when a guy tells a girl he just wants to be friends and actually wants more than just a friendship. Point is I don't take them seriously because from my own experiences they haven't respected where I stand until I address it.

There are a lot of homosexuals who feel that anyone not strictly attracted to the same gender has the option to appear heterosexual and therefore do not experience any kind of hatred or suffering because of their sexual orientation. I personally don't know a lot about being bisexual, I'm asexual but I've seen similar arguments against bi/pan/ace. It's totally unfounded though. The simple fact that you would be insulted because you're bisexual means that you face hardship directly due to your sexuality. The problem with the LGBTQIA movement is that most people blanket term everything "gay". Gay marriage, gay rights, gay pride. It's said over and over and over and everyone has just taken it to mean "everyone who isn't straight". But the problem with that is that everyone sees the LG and forgets the rest. So much so that bisexuals, pansexuals, and asexuals are being told they shouldn't participate in pride and their voices don't matter, especially if they're in a relationship with someone of the opposite gender. It's all a crazy mess. To answer why bisexuals aren't taken seriously would take a whole thesis, really. What matters is they don't deserve the terrible things said about them. Bisexuals are just people who are sexually attracted to their same gender and another gender. There's nothing wrong with that, no one is unfaithful for it, no one is untrustworthy. This kind of hate within the LGBTQIA shouldn't exist in 2015, it has no place in our movement.
