How to start a conversation

Anybody know ways to start a conversation with a guy or girl you don't know but just wanna make friends? I had trouble talking to this guy and well I got punched in the jaw and cursed out

Depends on the situation. where, when or doing what do you want to start these convos. But for me, I tend to have conversations start when make an observation outloud. I don't mean to but I talk to myself out loud. like I have said "where are those god damn combos, why did I agree to get them if I can't find them!" and someone answers me. Or "Is it raining" make an observation?

You there! We shall initiate conversation. More seriously, a comment about the situation works well. "Yeah, it's tricky to find combos anymore."

Say something interesting like: You have nice clothes/hair or have I seen you somewhere before?

Just don't be that idiot who curses loudly and acts like a jerk. If you are hyper active gets too close to a person while cursing you seem off. Seriously I saw a guy do that the other day I thought he was drunk.
