Hentai. Who thought this was a good idea?

@infamous_kid: to answer your questions about hentai 1. You are 16 according to your profile. You shouldn’t be watching it anyways. 2. There is no hentai that is appealing to the public. That is why it is rated 18+ (21+ in some countries) 3. Why in the world have you seen Boku no Pico? 4. As for positive effects: they provide an outlet and fantasy that would be too perverse for impossible for normal porn to do. Like how anime provides impossible settings and fantasies that real media could not accomplish in the same way. 5. Another positive effect is when you masturbate and orgasm, your brain releases oxytocin, a stress relief hormone. Disclaimer: It has not yet been proven if masturbation is healthy or not. 6. The negative is obviously rape. The rape culture in hentai is awful, and there are other bad things that they portray. But again, it is a fantasy, and if no one acts out those fantasies, then no one is getting hurt. 7. I am a productive member of society and I watch hentai. You don't need to be an unemployed soulless parasite to enjoy hentai. 8. In the end, even watching anime is just for pleasure and stress relief. Of course, the stories in anime are more compelling than hentai. But people do what is pleasurable to them. If it is not physically hurting anyone, what's the harm? I am not trying to get you to like hentai (you are too young anyways). You asked why someone would come up with it and its merits, and I provided some answers.

I agree with Pocketto. I personally don't really watch much hentai (unless it's funny). I do watch my harem anime (I love breaking them down analytically) and romantic comedies, but as for hentai? It's funny- I think porn in all media is funny (from a certain light). Then again, I have a huge repertoire of what I find hilarious.

It literally makes you more stupid then before you looked at it. To answer 4: It is absolutely alright to paint men and women like that only because it remains fantasy. In the end it's an opinion of how the artist expresses a world or world view. Unfortunately, some have the opinion that women are objects. It is a bad thing, I don't like those hentai and what they represent of Japanese culture, but the opposite of having that world where they can express themselves is censorship. I would rather there be videos and videos of hentai women being treated horribly than having a world where women couldn’t voice their opinions for fear of being censored just like the hentai makers are. And how is the way women are treated in anime any different than hentai? Only certain anime’s have strong independent female characters. The rest are harem animes where women are to be won through conquest. The difference being that hentai is physical while anime harems are emotional. Even the men are often portrayed as perverted lonely sex fiends that don't understand proper social interactions. To answer question 5: Your brain does not shut down; it switches focus from the frontal cortex to the amygdala and temporal cortex. This means that your decision making center of your brain (frontal cortex) is temporarily turned off and focus is put in the pleasure centers of the brain. This happens when you are aroused. It is a natural phenomenon that happens even when not watching porn. It does not make you stupid. If it did, then anyone that has ever had sex, eaten a really delicious meal, or even really enjoyed an awesome anime would have become stupid. Again, I am not trying to make you like hentai. I just want to show you that even something as dumb as hentai can have merits of being useful to people.

Rape culture? I thought there were fewer instances of rape now than before hentai. It's been a little bit since one of my neighbors have been marauded and their daughter taken. My point being hentai is in the exact same category as any other anime, movie, video game or book. It creates a fantasy situation where one can safely release stress. The subject matter may be different for each genre but the intended objective is the same.
