Is older anime better than todays anime?

I agree with the above. Pretty anime keep my attention more than anything. The only real exception to me was the beginning of One Piece. Edit: Aaaand I started a new page. Nice.

It all depends on what type of anime. For me I can watch some old-school anime, but sometimes the style or story doesn't catch my appeal like todays anime. I do agree that many anime now and days has a bit too much fan service, I mean something like Highschool DxD is perfect for fan service, because that's how the story is, but something like Aldnoah.Zero is perfect with just pure action. A lot of comedy/Slice of Life has a bit too much fan service, it doesn't bother me, but I sure do miss a good anime like Nichijou, just a pure random comedy/Slice of Life. While saying this, some older anime I watch, the storyline is a bit slow paced, and hard for me to enjoy, but the story feels a lot more original. Maybe in the future there will be someone that will help add more original anime that doesn't focus on fan service and more towards the story/detail.

I personally think the older anime is better but there are some new series that are up to par. I personally think that there were a lot of good anime that came out in the mid to late 90s up until the early 2000s. After that way too much fan service. Back then they focused on more relatable story building and interesting characters and realistic animation and they actually had unique artistic style. Now most anime is the same stuff over and over again.

One thing I will give to the older ones, they went on FOREVERRRRR. Now I can get into one and be depressed because there's only 12-24 episodes. It's sad..

They have their pros and cons but overall I think older is better. The art style is more detailed and organic while newer anime is very "soft" and "clean". Newer anime also have adult characters that look like they're in their teens. And of course the dreaded moe and fanservice are trying to be everywhere, ugh.

I think newer anime has better art and is just a cleaner product, but often the storylines are generic and/or just straight up boring. :P Older anime is wonderfully nostalgic, and often has some of the most kickass characters. ...but the art can be reaaaally outdated as well as the animation.

I think both have very good things about them, and things that aren't so great about them, I tend to gravitate towards more older anime, but I enjoy them both :)

I tend to like the older animes better but I will still give the newer ones a try.

I think some of the older anime are better but there was still fan service then like there is now nothing changed really other than the fact that most of the anime plots are dumb and centered around harems and ecchi but thats only for the romance genre the action genre is still pretty decent this year's action anime pretty much sucked to me last year had all the good action anime
